Kale

Have I always liked kale?  Heck no.

Kale is extremely bitter but I’ve been able to find some incredible recipes using kale and I’ve grown to LOVE it.

I tried making Kale Chips a few times several years ago and had no success.  They either turned out too chewy or soggy.  I found this recipe the other day and the chips turned out amazing.

When my daughter first saw these on the cookie sheet she told me that it looked like a frog threw up all over but she tried them and both  kids actually really liked them.

A tip when making Kale chips is to make sure the kale is completely dry before you season them, otherwise the chips turn out  soggy (which is probably what I was doing wrong before).

Ingredients

  • A bunch of Kale, center stems removed, washed and dried thoroughly
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 to 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seedsIMG_2648

Preheat oven to 350F.

With hands toss Kale in bowl with olive oil, sesame seeds and soy sauce.  You want each piece to be glistening but not so much that there’s a pool of liquid at the bottom of the bowl

Line baking sheet with parchment paper.  Lay pieces flat on the paper.  Make sure they don’t overlap

Bake about 10 minutes  (the time will vary).  Keep a close eye on the oven as they will burn quickly.
