Sunday Family Fit Day

Sunday’s are dedicated to family time in our house.  My hubby doesn’t work, we have a nice breakfast together and then we head outdoors for some family fun.

Today my daughter suggested we go to the park for a family workout (she loves doing chin ups on the bars).

ImageWhen we workout as a family, we never force the kids to do any of the exercises.  We’ll encourage them to join in when they’re ready.  Sometimes they workout for a bit and then play at the park and then come back and workout some more.

Today’s workout consisted of 3 separate circuits each containing 3 different exercises.  Complete each circuit 4 times each before moving on to the next circuit.

Circuit 1

Perform 25 reps of each exercise.  Repeat circuit 4 times

  1. Wall Balls
  2. Kettlebell swings
  3. TRX back rows

Circuit 2

Perform 25 reps of each exercise.  Repeat circuit 4 times

  1. Box jumps
  2. Push ups
  3. Assisted chin ups* (only 15 reps).

*I use my feet to help push-off along with my arms to pull myself up.

Circuit 3

Perform 25 reps of each exercise except for the lunge jumps (do 20 on each side).  Repeat circuit 4 times

  1. Kettlebell shoulder press (25 each side)
  2. Lunge jumps total 40 (20 each side)
  3. Tricep dips

Remember, if you are just starting out, do what you can.  If you can’t do the circuits 4 times, then start with 1 or 2 or if you can’t do all three circuits, try doing just one.   Also, if you find box jumps too hard in the beginning, try doing step ups instead.
